OVERALL SCHEDULE
We are now back to an area where the planning actions for a large or small business are very similar.
The small or home based business will require the same information, but will involve less data. The schedule will be month by month and will show the timing of major activities. The following milestones are examples of what will be shown: Incorporation, Design & Develpment Completion, Prototypes, Sales rep hiring, Display at trade shows, Signing Distributors and Dealers, Production Materials, Start of Production, First Orders, First Sale Delivery, Receipt of First Payment. Show -- Staff "Ramp up", Plant and Equipment Start Up. Look at areas where timing could be off and slippages could occur. Show financial impacts and contingency plans.
2 Year Projection
A simple way to show progress is with a basic spread sheet that includes milestones and financial projections. This will be compared with actuals as the businesss progresses.
An example of a 2 year projection is available at the following link. The tables reflect a conservative approach and do not consider cash flow (i.e. 60 day billing). 2 Year Projection
